Flowery Branch is a Hall County city on the shore of Lake Lanier, established in 1874 after the railroad came through. Its name goes back to a Cherokee word meaning "flowers on the branch," the old train depot and a caboose now serve as small museums, and the Atlanta Falcons keep their headquarters and training facility in town. fridges with drawers that freeze the food or won't stay cold.
upright and chest freezers that soften the food or frost over.
ice makers with slow batches, leaks or jammed trays.
wine coolers that stay warm, buzz or ice the back wall.
ovens with modes that misbehave or heat that won't settle.
gas and electric ranges with burners that sputter or stay cold.
Plenty of French-door and four-door refrigerators have a middle or lower drawer that can switch modes. Depending on the model, it may run as a freezer, a soft-freeze drawer, a cold drawer for meat and drinks, or a regular fridge drawer. It's a handy feature until somebody presses the wrong key.
What goes wrong:
What to do:
When it's a fault: the drawer ignores its setting, frost builds inside it, the display goes blank, or it stays warm in every mode. The cause can be a damper, a fan, a sensor or the control, and my techs test each one.
Many newer ovens have a Proof setting. It holds a low, warm temperature so yeast dough can rise, a lot like the old trick of letting dough sit near a warm stove, only steadier. Used right, it speeds up the rise and makes it more even.
Getting good results:
If your oven has no Proof mode, a warm corner of the kitchen does the job, just more slowly. Don't switch the oven on to its lowest bake setting and leave dough inside, unless the recipe tells you to. On most ovens even the lowest bake setting runs far hotter than rising dough wants, and the outside can start to cook before the inside has risen.
When it's a repair: the dough starts to bake on the Proof setting, the oven stays stone cold, or Proof doesn't appear on the menu where the manual says it should be. That points to the temperature sensor, the control or a heating element, and my techs check all three.
You bring home two cases of wine, slide them in, and the next morning the display reads several degrees warm. Nothing is wrong yet. Every room-temperature bottle is a load of heat the cooler has to pull out, and two dozen bottles is a lot of work for a small compressor.
How to load it:
When it's a fault: the cooler still can't reach its setting a day after loading, the back wall builds a thick sheet of ice, the compressor runs without stopping, or the fan stays silent. Those point to a fan, a sensor, a door seal or the sealed system. Only EPA 608 certified techs from my crew touch refrigerant.
It starts with your call: phone or send the form, and a person answers 24/7 to book a same- or next-day time.
Then comes the diagnosis: the tech looks at the power, water and gas, checks your settings and modes, tests the parts behind the symptom, and tells you what failed.
And then the repair: with your go-ahead, the tech fits genuine or OEM-approved parts and runs a full test. That work comes with a warranty of up to 6 months on parts and on labor.

In Flowery Branch kitchens my techs work on Samsung, LG, GE, GE Profile, Whirlpool, KitchenAid, Frigidaire, Maytag, Bosch, Electrolux, Kenmore and Haier, plus wine coolers of many makes. Each of those brands has years of my crew's repair work behind it.
Mars Appliance Repair is a family business, independent of every manufacturer. None of the brands named here is affiliated with us or endorses us; they show only what we repair.

Its mode was probably switched to a freezer setting. Change it back and give it a few hours.
Several hours, as a rule. Don't load it until it settles.
Many ovens won't allow Proof until the cavity cools. Start cool.
Check that the door stayed shut and the dough was covered. If the oven stays cold, call us.
