Hank's Crew Fixes Appliances in Powder Springs, GA

Powder Springs still feels like a small town with room to spread out. Houses sit on bigger lots than they do closer to Atlanta, plenty of families keep a spare freezer in the garage or the workshop, and the kitchen is the busiest room in the house. I'm Hank, and my crew at Mars Appliance Repair keeps those kitchens going in Powder Springs: refrigerators, freezers, ice makers, wine coolers, ovens and ranges. Same- or next-day visits are available.

What Hank's Crew Fixes in Powder Springs

Gas Oven Slow to Light? Look at the Igniter

Here's a complaint that starts small and gets worse. You turn the gas oven on, and nothing happens for a minute, two minutes, sometimes longer. Then it lights with a soft whoomp. Or it never lights at all.

Gas ovens built over the last few decades usually rely on a glow-bar igniter. It heats up until it glows, and the gas valve opens only once enough electrical current flows through it. As the igniter ages, it can still glow bright orange and yet stop drawing enough current to open the valve. That's how you end up with a long wait, a loud light-off, or an oven that stays cold.

What you can do on your own:

An igniter is a standard part and a routine repair. My techs test it before replacing it, because a weak gas valve or a control fault can cause the very same delay.

Doors That Drift Open: Level the Fridge First

If your refrigerator door doesn't swing shut on its own, or the freezer drawer creeps open after you close it, the fix may take two minutes and no parts at all.

Refrigerators are meant to sit with the front a touch higher than the back, so gravity helps the doors close. Over the years, or after a move or new flooring, that tilt gets lost.

  1. Take off the toe grille at the bottom front.
  2. Find the leveling legs or rollers at the front corners. Many turn by hand or with a wrench; some adjust with a screw.
  3. Raise the front slightly, about a quarter inch higher than the back.
  4. Open the door halfway and let go. It should close gently by itself.

Then try the paper test. Close the door on a sheet of printer paper at several spots around the seal. If the paper slides out with no drag at all, the gasket isn't sealing there. A gasket that's torn, flattened or pulling away from the door lets warm air in around the clock, and the fridge pays for it with longer run times and frost.

Freezers in Workshops and Outbuildings

With bigger lots comes bigger storage. Many Powder Springs homes keep a chest freezer in the workshop or a second fridge in a detached garage. Those spots are rough on appliances: hot in summer, cold in winter, dusty all year and out of sight.

Still Under the Maker's Warranty? Check First

Plenty of homes in and around Powder Springs have appliances that are only a few years old. Before you book any repair, it's worth checking whether the manufacturer's warranty still covers the problem. Find the purchase date along with the model and serial numbers, then look at your paperwork or the manufacturer's website. Some manufacturers cover the sealed system longer than the rest of the appliance.

If the appliance is past that coverage, or you'd rather not wait on a manufacturer's schedule, Hank's crew is ready. Our repairs carry their own warranty of up to 6 months on parts and labor.

How a Mars Visit Goes in Powder Springs

You reach us. By phone or by form. A person is on the line 24/7 and offers a same- or next-day window.

We track down the cause. The tech checks power, gas, water and settings, then tests the parts tied to your symptom. You hear what failed before anything gets replaced.

We repair it. With your approval, genuine or OEM-approved parts go in, and the appliance runs through a full test before the tech heads out. Parts and labor stay covered for up to 6 months.

Yes. Clear a path to it, and mention when you book that it sits outside the main house.
