Atlanta Oven Repair by Hank's Crew

Your oven should roast the turkey, not ruin the evening. When it won't heat, takes forever to preheat or burns the bottom of every pan, dinner plans fall apart fast. I'm Hank. My crew fixes gas and electric ovens across metro Atlanta, usually same- or next-day, and we explain what broke in plain English before we touch a thing.

Safety First: Smell Gas? Stop Here

If you smell gas near a gas oven or range, don't light anything, don't flip switches and don't try to find the leak. Get everyone outside, then call your gas utility's leak line or 911 from outside. Once the gas side is safe, we can come fix the oven.

If a carbon monoxide alarm goes off, leave the house and call 911. And please don't use the oven to heat the kitchen on a cold morning.

Hank's Five-Minute Oven Checks

  1. Is the clock or display on? If it's blank, check the breaker. If the clock works but the oven won't heat on an electric model, flip its double breaker fully off and back on, since a supply problem on one side can leave the clock running and the oven cold.
  2. Is a timer or delay-start set? A "delay" or "cook time" setting left on from last week can keep the oven from heating.
  3. Is the oven locked? After a self-clean, or with the control lock on, many ovens won't start. Look for a lock icon.
  4. On gas ovens, is the gas on? If the burners on top light, gas is reaching the range.
  5. Is the bake element glowing? On electric ovens with a visible bottom element, a break, blister or dead spot means it's done.

Still no heat? That's our cue.

How a Mars Visit Goes

The call. You tell us the brand, gas or electric, wall oven or range, and what's happening. We'll pick a time window together, usually same- or next-day.

The diagnosis. The tech checks the elements or igniter, the sensor, the door lock, the fuses and the control. On gas models we also check the gas valve and the flame. Then you get the straight story about what failed and what it takes, before any work starts. You decide.

The fix. We install genuine or OEM-approved parts, run the oven up to temperature and check it with our own thermometer before we leave. Our warranty of up to 6 months covers the parts and labor.

The Parts That Usually Quit

Every Kind of Oven We Fix

Range ovens under a gas, electric, induction or dual-fuel cooktop. If the burners or cooktop are the problem, see our stove and range repair page.

Single and double wall ovens, including combination units with a second oven or a speed oven on top.

Convection ovens, with a fan in the back wall and, on many models, a third heating element around it.

High-end built-in ovens from brands like Wolf, Thermador, Viking and Miele, which use more electronics and need careful handling when we pull them from the wall.

Older ovens with mechanical thermostats and dials. Plenty of them still have years left in them.

Fix It or Replace It? Hank's Straight Answer

For most ovens, fix it. Elements, igniters, sensors, fuses, locks and relays are all standard parts, and a wall oven is a big job to replace because it has to fit the cabinet opening.

The cases where I'd think about replacing: a very old oven with a failed control board that's no longer made, or a range with rust-through and a cracked cooktop on top of the oven problem. If that's your situation, I'll say so, even if it means no repair for us.

Brands We Service

We service ovens from GE, GE Profile, GE Café, Whirlpool, Frigidaire, KitchenAid, Maytag, Samsung, LG, Bosch, Electrolux, Kenmore, Amana and Hotpoint, plus Wolf, Thermador, Viking, Monogram, Jenn-Air, Miele, Dacor, BlueStar and Bertazzoni. Our techs know these ovens from years of hands-on work.

We're an independent, family-owned shop: not affiliated with or endorsed by any oven maker, and the brand names here only show what we repair.

What's Your Oven Doing?

No heat at all, display works

Electric: bake element, a control board relay or a thermal fuse. Gas: a weak igniter or a failed gas valve.

Gas oven igniter glows but no flame

On many gas ovens the glowing igniter has to draw enough current to open the gas valve. A worn igniter can glow and still not be strong enough.

Takes forever to preheat

A tired igniter, a weak element or a temperature sensor that reads wrong.

Burns on the bottom, raw on top

Broil element out, convection fan stopped, or a sensor out of calibration.

Runs much hotter or cooler than the dial says

Temperature sensor, the old-style thermostat or the control.

Error code and beeping

Write the code down or snap a photo. It points us at the sensor, the lock or the board.

Door locked after self-clean

The lock motor or lock switch stuck, or the oven still thinks it's too hot.

Oven died during self-clean

The high heat of a clean cycle can blow a thermal fuse or stress the control.

Convection fan noisy or not spinning

Worn fan motor or bearing.

Oven FAQ — The Stuff People Ask Hank

? Why does my gas oven igniter glow but nothing lights?

On many gas ovens the igniter has to get hot enough, and draw enough current, to open the gas valve. A worn igniter can glow and still fall short. It's one of our most common oven fixes.

? My oven runs hot. Can you fix that?

Yes. We test the temperature sensor and the control, and many digital ovens can also be adjusted once the parts check out.

? Is it safe to use an oven that smells like gas?

No. Leave the house and call your gas utility's leak line or 911 from outside. We'll repair the oven once it's safe.

? My oven door is stuck locked after self-clean. What now?

Let it cool completely and try once more. If it stays locked, the lock motor or switch has likely failed, and we can replace it.

? Can you fix a wall oven or a double oven?

Yes, single, double and combination wall ovens, plus the oven in your range.

? How quickly can you come out?

Most of metro Atlanta gets same- or next-day oven service. Call early for the best slot.

? What warranty comes with an oven repair?

We back our oven repairs with up to 6 months of warranty on parts and labor.

? Are you the oven brand's service company?

No. Mars is independent and family-owned. We list brands so you know we fix them.
