"It worked fine yesterday." That's how a lot of appliance trouble in Lawrenceville gets described, but appliances rarely fail out of nowhere. They usually drop hints first, and my crew knows how to read them. I'm Hank, and Mars Appliance Repair handles refrigerators, freezers, ice makers, wine coolers, ovens and ranges all over Lawrenceville, from the courthouse square to Collins Hill, with same- or next-day visits available.
The phone line is staffed by real people 24/7: (470) 516-8711. Prefer typing? Fill in the form on this page, and we'll ring you back to book.

Tell Hank's crew what's acting up and the best number to reach you. We'll call you right back to lock in a Same- or Next-Day slot — no obligation, no upsell circus.
Gwinnett's county seat spreads out in every direction, and our techs cover it all:
Lawrenceville ZIP codes: 30043, 30044, 30045 and 30046. Put yours in the form to confirm we come to your street.
warm fridges, frost buildup, drips and noisy fans.
frosted-over uprights, soft freezer drawers and quiet chest freezers.
empty bins, clumped ice and leaky fill valves.
wine fridges that won't hold their setting.
no bake, no broil, uneven heat and error codes.
glass tops, coil burners, gas burners and induction.
Smooth glass-top electric ranges are everywhere in Lawrenceville homes, from starter houses to rentals to remodeled kitchens. They're easy to clean and easy to live with, and they fail in a handful of predictable ways.
One zone won't heat. Each zone has its own radiant element and its own switch or control. If one zone is cold while the others work, it's usually the element, the switch behind that knob, or a broken wire to it.
One zone won't turn off. A switch that's welded itself closed keeps power flowing to the element. Turn the range off at the breaker until it's fixed; that's a fire risk.
The "hot surface" light stays on. Often a faulty limiter or indicator circuit. Annoying, but not usually dangerous by itself.
The glass is cracked. Stop using it. A crack can let spills reach the elements and wiring underneath. The glass top is a replaceable part on most ranges.
A few habits keep a glass top happy:
A freezer full of frost almost always points to the defrost system. Here's how it works, the way I'd explain it to a neighbor.
Every frost-free freezer has a cold coil, called the evaporator, hidden behind a panel. Moisture from the air freezes onto it a little every time you open the door. A few times a day, the fridge switches the cooling off and turns on a small heater under that coil to melt the frost. The water drips into a drain and down to a pan near the compressor, where it evaporates.
When any piece of that chain fails, frost keeps stacking up. The heater can burn out. The defrost thermostat or sensor that tells the heater when to run can quit. The timer or control board that starts the cycle can stop. Or the drain can freeze, so meltwater turns into a block of ice at the bottom of the freezer.
What you'll notice: frost on the back panel of the freezer, a fridge that warms up over a few days, water under the crisper drawers or a block of ice on the freezer floor. Unplugging the fridge for a day melts everything and makes it work again for a while, but if a defrost part failed, the frost comes right back. That's when to call us.
Side-by-side refrigerators are common in Lawrenceville homes, and they share a habit: when something goes wrong with the cooling, the fresh-food side usually feels it before the freezer does.
That's because there's only one cold coil, and it sits in the freezer. A fan pushes cold air across it, and part of that air travels through a duct and a small door, called a damper, into the fresh-food side. If the coil frosts over, the fan slows or the damper sticks closed, the freezer stays cold while the other side drifts up to 45 or 50 degrees.
Before you call, open the freezer and look for the vent that feeds the fridge side, usually high on the shared wall. Make sure bags and boxes aren't packed against it. If the vent is clear and the fridge side keeps warming, a fan, the damper or the defrost system needs a look, and that's our job.
Lawrenceville has a lot of rental homes, townhomes and apartments, including plenty near the college. For landlords and property managers, a few tips:
We work directly with owners and managers and explain the repair in plain terms you can pass along. Tenants: check your lease first, since many landlords prefer to set up repairs themselves.

GE, Whirlpool, Frigidaire, Samsung, LG, Maytag, Kenmore, KitchenAid, Amana, Hotpoint, Electrolux, Bosch, Haier and Hisense are all brands we service in Lawrenceville. We also handle Sub-Zero, Thermador, Viking and Monogram in the larger homes. Years on the job have taught my techs how these brands are put together.
Mars isn't connected to any appliance maker. We're independent, nobody's endorsed us, and the brand names are here only to show what we work on.
