Alpharetta Ice Maker Repair, Hank's Way

Alpharetta kitchens tend to run on big, feature-heavy refrigerators, and the ice maker is usually the first feature to act up. I'm Hank, and my crew handles ice maker repair across Alpharetta: townhomes near downtown and Avalon, family homes off Old Milton Parkway and Haynes Bridge Road, and the larger houses around Windward. We work on tray ice makers in the freezer, ice boxes in French-door fridge doors, dual and craft-ice setups and undercounter machines. Visits are same- or next-day.

A Minute of Checking Can Save a Visit

Run through these before booking. They don't fix a bad part, but they rule out the simple stuff:

  1. Is the ice maker on? Look for "Ice Off" or a lock symbol on the control panel. Some models hide a separate switch on the ice maker itself.
  2. Is the freezer near 0°F? Ice makers won't fill a warm mold. If the freezer side is soft, our freezer repair page explains what to check next.
  3. Did the water filter just get changed? A filter that isn't seated all the way can block water to the ice maker completely. Pull it and click it back in.
  4. Was the fridge moved? After cleaning behind it or a kitchen project, the water line often ends up pinched against the wall.

If the bin is still empty a day later, it's time for a tech.

Ice Makers in Alpharetta Homes

Big French-door and four-door refrigerators. These are everywhere in Alpharetta. Their door ice makers sit in an insulated box fed by cold air through a duct from the freezer. If the duct fan stops or the box seal wears, the ice box frosts over and the dispenser jams.

Dual and specialty ice makers. Some refrigerators make regular cubes in the freezer and round or craft ice in the door. Each ice maker has its own water and control side, so one can quit while the other keeps working.

Built-in and panel-ready refrigerators. Common in remodeled kitchens around Windward and the newer neighborhoods north of town. Their ice makers are reliable, but the unit has to come out of the cabinetry carefully to reach the water connections.

Undercounter ice machines. Basement bars, outdoor kitchens and wet bars often have a dedicated clear-ice machine. These need a working drain path and regular cleaning to keep producing.

Townhome and apartment refrigerators. Simpler top- or bottom-freezer models with a single tray ice maker. A failed valve or module is a quick, clean repair.

The Mars Ice Maker Visit in Alpharetta

Step one, the booking. A person answers 24/7. Share the brand, the model number if it's handy and what the ice maker is doing, and we'll offer a same- or next-day window in Alpharetta.

Step two, the testing. The tech checks the freezer temperature, measures water flow at the inlet valve, inspects the fill tube for ice and cycles the ice maker on the spot. For a door ice maker, the duct, fan and compartment seal get checked too. Before any work, you get a plain explanation of what failed and what the repair takes. Nothing happens until you agree.

Step three, the repair. Genuine or OEM-approved parts go in. The tech restores the water, watches a full fill for drips and confirms the ice maker cycles. A new ice maker can need about a day to fill a bin. Every repair comes with a warranty of up to 6 months on parts and labor.

Ice Maker Parts We Replace

Keeping an Alpharetta Ice Maker Happy

Should You Repair or Replace?

Repair it. A failed ice maker is a parts job, not a reason to retire a good refrigerator. We'd only talk about other options if the freezer behind the ice maker can't hold temperature on an older unit. In that case, we'll lay it out plainly before you spend anything.

Alpharetta Ice Maker FAQ

? Why does my ice maker stop after I change the water filter?

A filter that isn't fully locked in can block the water path. Remove it and reseat it until it clicks. If ice still doesn't come back, the inlet valve or fill tube may be the problem.

? My door ice box keeps filling with frost. What causes that?

Damp air is getting into the compartment. A worn ice box seal, a stuck damper or a duct fan that stopped are the usual reasons.

? One of my two ice makers works and the other doesn't. Is that one repair?

Usually yes. Each ice maker has its own valve or water path and controls, so the fix targets the side that stopped.

? Do you repair built-in refrigerators in Alpharetta?

Yes, including panel-ready and built-in models. We take care sliding them out of the cabinets.

? Can you fix the undercounter ice machine in my basement bar?

Yes. We service the water supply, drain or drain pump, controls and cleaning cycle.

? How long until the bin fills after a repair?

The ice maker starts working soon after the repair, but a full bin can take about a day.

? Which Alpharetta ZIP codes do you cover?

30004, 30005, 30009 and 30022.

? Is there a warranty on the ice maker repair?

Yes. Your Alpharetta ice maker repair is covered for up to 6 months, parts and labor included.
