Before You Book: Three Quick Looks

Some "dead" ice makers are only switched off or starved for water. Give these a minute first:

  1. Find the on switch. Many ice makers have a rocker switch, a wire arm or an "Ice Off" setting on the display. A wire arm lifted up tells the machine the bin is full.
  2. Check the freezer temperature. Ice makers wait for a cold mold before they fill. A freezer sitting well above 0°F makes ice slowly or not at all, and that points to a freezer repair visit rather than an ice maker one.
  3. Follow the water line. Pull the fridge out gently and look for a kink, a closed valve or a filter that's past its date. If the door dispenser also runs slow, the filter is a good suspect.

Nothing changed after a full day? That's when Hank's crew earns its keep.

Ice Maker Trouble Around Marietta

Marietta has a wide spread of homes, and ice makers fail a little differently in each.

Houses near Marietta Square. Kitchens here have often been remodeled around a fridge cutout that's tighter than the new refrigerator likes. A crowded fridge runs warmer at the back, and the ice maker is the first thing to slow down. Sometimes the fix is a part. Sometimes it's simply giving the condenser air.

East Cobb neighborhoods. Homes off Sandy Plains, Lower Roswell and Roswell Road tend to have a big French-door or side-by-side in the kitchen and a second fridge in the garage. Door ice makers on French-door models rely on a duct, a small fan and a tight seal. When any of those slip, the ice box frosts up or the cubes fuse into a block.

West Cobb builds. Newer subdivisions along Dallas Highway and Burnt Hickory Road lean toward dual ice makers, craft-ice makers and smart controls. More features mean more to test, and an error code rarely names the exact part on its own.

Rentals along Cobb Parkway. Simple top-freezer fridges with a basic tray ice maker. They're easy to repair, and a tenant usually just wants ice back by tomorrow.

Garage fridges everywhere. A closed Georgia garage gets hot in summer and cold in a January freeze. Either swing can stop an ice maker that sits in the freezer of a garage fridge, even when nothing is broken yet.

What Your Marietta Ice Maker Is Telling You

How We Repair Ice Makers in Marietta

You reach us. Tell us the brand, the model if you have it and what the ice maker is doing. We'll give you a time window, same- or next-day for Marietta and East Cobb.

We test before we touch anything. The tech measures the freezer temperature, checks water pressure at the valve, looks for ice inside the fill tube and runs the ice maker through a test cycle. On door ice makers, we also check the duct, the fan and the compartment seal. You hear what failed and what the repair involves before any work begins, and the choice to go ahead is yours.

We fix it and watch it fill. Genuine or OEM-approved parts go in, the water gets turned back on and we watch for a clean fill with no drips. A new ice maker can take about a day to fill the bin. Your repair stays covered for up to 6 months, parts and labor both.

Undercounter Ice Machines in Marietta Basements and Bars

Plenty of East Cobb and West Cobb homes have a finished basement with a bar and an undercounter ice machine. These units make clear ice in a different way from a fridge ice maker, and they need a working drain or drain pump. When the drain backs up or minerals coat the evaporator plate, ice production drops and the bin fills with water instead of cubes. We clean, test and repair the water path, the drain pump and the controls on these machines.

Repair or Replace the Ice Maker?

Repair, nearly every time. Valves, fill tubes, modules, augers and sensors are standard parts, and an ice maker problem by itself is no reason to give up on a good refrigerator. The one case where we'd slow down is an old fridge whose freezer can no longer stay cold. Then the ice maker isn't the real problem, and we'll explain your options plainly.

Marietta Ice Maker FAQ

? My ice maker stopped but the freezer feels cold. What's wrong?

A cold freezer with no ice usually points to the water side: a stuck inlet valve, a frozen fill tube, a kinked line or a clogged filter. The ice maker module itself can also fail.

? Do you come to East Cobb for ice maker repair?

Yes. East Cobb uses Marietta ZIP codes such as 30062, 30066, 30067 and 30068, and all of them are on our list.

? Why are my cubes so small and hollow?

The mold isn't getting enough water. Low pressure, an old filter or a weak inlet valve are the usual causes.

? My garage fridge stopped making ice in the summer heat. Can it be fixed?

Often, yes. We check the freezer temperature, the condenser and the water line. If the garage is simply too hot for that model, we'll tell you honestly.

? Can you repair the ice maker in the door of my French-door fridge?

Yes. We work on the ice box fan, damper, seal, ice maker and dispenser on French-door models.

? Do you repair undercounter ice machines in basements?

Yes. We service the water supply, drain pump, controls and cleaning cycle on built-in undercounter ice makers.

? How long before I have ice after the repair?

The ice maker starts cycling soon, but a full bin can take about a day.

? What warranty comes with the repair?

Ice maker repairs in Marietta carry a warranty of up to 6 months on parts and labor.
